Mental illnesses plague humanity by the millions, yet it is not a virus that can be caught. Each one is a beast that tears at the gentle fabric of the soul. The mind becomes one’s own personal Hell - a war-zone where escape is nothing but a yearning, wailing desperation. However, by giving a face to one of these beasts, it hopefully will help more and more people realize that mental illness is, indeed, nothing to be taken lightly.

These are often called the invisible illnesses because physical symptoms are not present, making them easier to disregard and be swept under the rug. Therefore, I aim to create a costume that embodies what anxiety, one of the main mental illnesses, might look like if it were a beast that was directly plucked from the mind and pulled into the real world.
